The Great Pumpkin is here!

"What's that? What's that? I hear the Great Pumpkin!"

Everywhere you go you see pumpkin! It's in everything from pumpkin lattes, donuts, pie, cookies, bread, skin care products even pumpkin salsa! But did you know that pumpkin is a great source of Vitamin A, beta-carotene, potassium and iron and has been know to reduce the risk of cancer? Not only is it good for you but also for your 4-legged family members?

Here are 3 health benefits of pumpkin for your pup:

Digestion – It tastes great and can help easy tummy troubles. Canned natural pumpkin is a great source of fiber and by adding a tablespoon or two to their meal is known to help keep them regular. Bonus: less clean up!

Weight – Does your friend need to lose a few pounds? Try feeding him the same amount of food but swap out some of the kibble for pumpkin. It will make him feel full and help reduce the calorie intake. Hmm, I might have to try that in my own diet!

Skin and Coat – Pumpkin seeds (which are high in fatty acids and antioxidents) can help relief itchy, irritated skin and promote a healthly and shiny coat. And who doesn't love great skin and hair?

Now that you some of the benefits, give it a try. Here is one of our favorite Pumpkin Dog Treat recipes courtesy of Kevin & Amanda to get you started.
