Feature Friday – Ivan and Flash the Basset Boys
Posted by RIghteous Hound on 3rd Oct 2014
This week we are featuring 2 very lovable males from our Pawtner – New England Basset Hound Rescue (NEBHR). NEBHR was founded in 2001 by lovers of the breed who wanted to try to help the homeless, abandoned, and unwanted Basset Hounds of New England.
IVAN–The Love Bug
Ivan is a "Bagel" (half basset, half beagle) who is back with NEBHR after his adopters work circumstances changed. Ivan is a love bug who likes to snuggle and play.
Ivan would like to say: "Before I came to NEBHR, I spent a few months in a shelter with no people to love or dogs to socialize with so I was anxious when my people left me and not good with other dogs. Since then I have been through extensive training and I’ve learned so many things, thanks to NEBHR! I get along much better with other dogs and I wouldn’t mind living with a younger, female dog. My best friend at doggie boot camp is a 10-month old lab puppy! We play together non-stop! Boot camp also improved my separation anxiety and I have no problem with being alone now. I didn’t even know what manners were when I originally arrived from the shelter, but my foster family, adopter ,and trainer have all spent so much time teaching me. Not only do I have manners, I also know many commands! As you can see from the picture below, I also enjoy agility training! I need an adopter who has the patience required to train hound dogs to keep up with all I have learned. I love to go for walks and spend hours trying to keep myself amused throughout the day. I’m becoming an expert at throwing toys for myself. My trainer also noticed that I love the smell of stargazer lilies so she put a vase in my room. I’m a young boy who has had a rough start in life, but I’m ready to start fresh and become the dog you’ve always wanted! If you think you have a place in your home and heart for a basset mix, please fill out an adoption application and mention me – Ivan!"

Ivan says: "Look at what I can do!" How could you not want this sweet boy who is so well trained???
FLASH–Loves Squeaky Toys
Flash might be 9 years old in numbers but he is 3 year old at heart. Flash needs someone who is willing to take care of hound ears!
Flash says: "Hey everybody! You might think Flash is a funny name for a basset, but you should see me go! I love to zip around and play fetch with my toys when I have my bursts of energy. Squeaky toys are my favorite! I am small for a basset, and I consider myself a lap dog. As soon as you sit down, I will try to get on your lap for some cuddling. I am a very easy-going guy and I get along great with other dogs. Aside from playing with toys and cuddling, I love to sun myself in the yard. I could stay in the yard all day soaking up the sun and would be very content! Did I mention that I am housebroken and crate-trained? I am! If you are looking for a sweet senior to fill your home with basset love and entertainment, look no further. Fill out an adoption application and mention me, Flash!"

Flash says: "This is not my best look, but the stylists where off that day."
If you are looking for a warm basset to cuddle with, Flash is your man!!

Adoption Donation: $350 for dogs under 4 years, $250 for dogs from 4 to 8 years, $150 for dogs over 8 years.
**Please fill out an adoption application ONLY if you have made the decision to adopt a new family member. A lot of time is spent screening applications, doing home visits and checking vet references. We request that you only submit an application AFTER you have made the decision to adopt and hold off if you — or any family members — are just in the initial ‘thinking’ stage of adoption. We only adopt to families living in New England – all of our volunteers are located in New England.**
