Feature Friday – Olivia

Posted by RIghteous Hound on 26th Sep 2014

Every Friday we will be featuring dogs from our rescue pawtners that need your help healing and finding their forever homes. This week we are spotlighting Olivia from the Southern States Rescued Rottweilers (SSRR). Here is her story:

Back in August, Olivia – a gentle, 3-year old, Rottweiler girl – ended up in a Texas Animal Care & Control facility. She was pregnant, underweight and had bad skin issues. At the end of August she gave birth to 10 puppies in a crowded shelter.

Her ordeal did not end there. Only a week later she was extremely sick and separated from her puppies (who where also not doing well). By the time SSRR was able to pull them from the shelter – 2 of the puppies were gone and the remaining 8 were dehydrated, weak and struggling to live. Another 2 were lost later due to pneumonia. Olivia was also very dehydrated, underweight, covered in fleas and mange, and had contracted a URI.

Lucky, SSRR was able to reunite them, place them in a loving foster home to recover, get them ready for adoption, and provide the vet care and treatment they currently need.

As of today, vet bills for Olivia and her puppies have gone over $2,500 and they are in need of donations to help cover the cost of their care. SSRR couldn't help Rotties in need, like Olivia and her puppies, without the generous support of their donors. Please continue to share Olivia and her puppies' story with friends and family, as well as any other Rottie groups you may be associated with. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so here.

100% of your donation will go directly to the medical needs of Olivia and her puppies. SSRR is a 501c3, charitable organization dedicated to saving the lives of Rottweilers throughout the eleven southern states. The rescue group is operated solely by volunteers; no salaries are paid to anyone.

Olivia's puppies won't be available for adoption for a few more weeks yet and Olivia shortly thereafter but SSRR is taking applications if you are interested.
